Connecting Sendcloud to Claimlane

Create Sendcloud API keys, find your contract ID and shipping option code, and share them with Claimlane to book return labels.

Written by Support team

To book return labels through your Sendcloud account, Claimlane needs up to four values from you: a Public Key, a Secret Key, a shipping option code and, if you use your own carrier contract, a contract ID. It takes about 10 minutes.

Value

What it is in Sendcloud

Field in Claimlane

Example

Required

Public Key

API username for your Sendcloud account

Client ID

a1b2c3d4-...

Yes

Secret Key

API password for your Sendcloud account

Client Secret

e5f6g7h8...

Yes

Contract ID

ID of your direct contract with a carrier

First part of the Shipping identifier

104206 or 525

Only with your own carrier contract

Shipping option code

The carrier service the label is booked with

Second part of the Shipping identifier

dpd:home or dhl:foryou2/pickup,size=xxl

Yes

In Claimlane, the contract ID and the shipping option code are combined into one Shipping identifier, separated by three colons:

ContractID:::ShippingOptionCode

Example: 104202:::dpd:home

Step 1: Create your API keys

The Public Key and Secret Key are created as a Sendcloud API integration (see Sendcloud's documentation).

  1. Log in to Sendcloud and open Settings → Integrations (direct link).

  2. Find Sendcloud API in the list and click Connect.

  3. Name the integration Claimlane and click Save.

  4. Sendcloud generates a Public Key and a Secret Key. Copy both and store them somewhere safe before you close the window.

Tip: Create a separate integration for Claimlane rather than reusing keys from another system. That way you can revoke our access without affecting anything else. Your Sendcloud account also needs an active payment method, otherwise labels can't be booked.

Step 2: Find your contract ID (only with your own carrier contract)

Skip this step if you ship with Sendcloud's own rates. You only need a contract ID if you have connected your own direct contract with a carrier (for example your own DPD or DHL agreement) under Settings → Carriers. If you have more than one active contract with the same carrier, the contract ID is required, because otherwise Sendcloud can't tell which one to use.

The quickest way to look it up is in your browser:

  1. Open https://panel.sendcloud.sc/api/v3/contracts in your browser.

  2. When the browser asks you to sign in, enter your Public Key as the username and your Secret Key as the password.

  3. In the list that appears, find your carrier by its code (for example dpd or dhl). The number in the id field next to it is your contract ID, for example 104206.

Prefer not to do this yourself? Send us the keys from Step 1 and the name of the carrier, and we'll look up the contract ID for you.

Step 3: Choose your shipping option code

The shipping option code tells Sendcloud which carrier service to book the return label with. It always starts with the carrier, followed by the service, for example dpd:home (DPD home delivery) or dhl:foryou2/pickup,size=xxl (a DHL service with extra options). The carrier must be enabled in your Sendcloud account, or connected through your own contract, before its codes are available.

The Sendcloud panel doesn't list the codes by name, so the easiest route is to tell us which service you want and we'll find the exact code. Send us:

  • The carrier, for example DPD, GLS, PostNord or DHL

  • The delivery type: to your warehouse address, or via a service point

  • The countries returns are shipped from and to, for example DK → DK or SE → DK

  • The typical parcel size and weight

For technical users: you can list the codes yourself by calling Sendcloud's shipping options endpoint with your API keys. The top-level code field of each result is the shipping option code.

curl -u PUBLIC_KEY:SECRET_KEY \
  -X POST https://panel.sendcloud.sc/api/v3/shipping-options \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{}'

An empty request body returns all shipping options on your account. Sendcloud's documentation lists the filters for country, carrier and parcel size.

Step 4: Share the values with Claimlane

Share the Public Key and Secret Key under Share secrets in your Claimlane company settings, or through another secure method. Never paste them into a regular email or chat message. The Shipping identifier is not secret and can go in an ordinary email to your Claimlane contact.

Fill in and send:

Client ID (Public Key): ______________________
Client Secret (Secret Key): sent separately via secure link
Shipping identifier:        ______:::______________
